There are literally hundreds of soap
recipes out there. With all of the choices, it can be hard to
decide on one to test out. As part of the Holiday Soap
Challenge, I have complied a list of popular types of soap that you may
want to try. Now by types I mean basic categories, not
necessarily specific recipes.
Don't feel obligated to follow this
list, I just
created it to help give you some ideas. The key is to push
yourself.
Popular Types of Soap
- Castile Soap - Try to get your
soap as white as possible. The recipe is the last one on the
page.
- Oatmeal Soap - This recipe will
give you experience in adding solid ingredients to your soap.
The author doesn't specify this but you will want to run the
oatmeal through a food processor before adding it to your soap mix.
- Goat's
Milk Soap - This is a good one for you to try if you have
never made soap with a liquid other than water before.
- Beeswax Soap - This recipe is #6
in the list and can be customized with your favorite essential oil for
fragrance.
- Shaving
Soap - This one is great for any bearded-types who need
presents this year.
Each of these recipes employs the cold
process soap making method. If you are not familiar with this
soap making technique, you
can learn to how to make soap here.
The Holiday Soap Challenge isn't specific to the cold
process. Use whatever method you would like!
