In hot process soap making heat is
used to give
saponification a boost. Saponification is the chemical reaction that
forms soap from the combination of oils/fat and lye. With the necessary
ingredients added to a container, heat is provided to the mixture. The
mixture is stirred until the soap begins to form.
The hot process of soap making is
actually the method that was used in the early days of soap creation.
According to Wikipedia,
"The main benefit of hot processing is that the exact concentration of
the lye solution does not need to be known to perform the process
successfully."
