Troubleshooting For Better Soap Making

While soap making doesn’t have to be difficult, it can be a very complicated process. There are so many elements that have to take place in just the right fashion for your soap to come out as it should. Temperatures, equipment, oils, the amount of lye used, and even your facial expression can have an effect on the final out come.

OK, so maybe the facial expression part was an exaggeration but you get the idea.  One of the best things you can do is educate yourself on the mistakes others have made.  Take a look at this and learn from the experience of others:

Troubleshooting Your Soap

This guide will go a long way to helping you in your own soap making endeavors.

As you go about your soap making, it would be a very good idea for you to keep a soap making journal.  In this journal, you can document the recipes, temperatures, ingredients, equipment, and procedures you used to create each batch.  This will not only be helpful when something goes wrong, but it will be even more valuable when something goes spectacularly right.  How tragic would it be if you accidentally created your own soap recipe by changing an element or two only to find that you can’t remember what you did?
