Soap Making and Clays
As any soap maker can tell you, one of the greatest aspects of making soap is the customizability of your creations. There are a multitude of options and ingredients that go beyond carrier and essential oil selection.
Clays are a great example of how to add unique flair to your soap. Just as with oils you use, different clays can infuse your soap with different characteristics. This will work to enhance the experience of those who use your soap.
Here are just some of the characteristics various clays can infuse into your soap.
- Added creamy feel
- More smooth, silkiness
- Extra color
- Complementary exfoliants
- The ability to absorb oils and impurities
Clay should be added just before trace and may be a bit tricky on your first attempt. Making the leap to using clay is worth it as it adds a new skill to your soap making repertoire while enhancing your creation!
